OK. How many of you out there find that certain composers and their music fit a certain season of the year? I sure do and that's why I am starting and writing this blog. The music won't be restricted to just classical music, but all music - jazz, pop, world. Anything that uses some sort of organised notation for sound to be played by a person qualifies for being called music to me!
Input from you the follower will always be welcome and explored if possible. So please don't be shy. Please comment and suggest. Any non-constructive or abusive comments will be deleted.
Time to start with the season of Spring that we are now in. Here in the UK spring can be a mixed bag, but this year - 2013 - things seem to be panning out pretty well. The weather has been much better so far than it has been the past two years for sure! Today it got up to 20c.
I was out doing the gardening on this bank holiday Monday and started to think of music and composers that the weather perhaps inspires in my mind. Loads of ideas came to mind but one composer kept coming back. Debussy.
But, before going on to talk about Debussy and his music relating to the season of Spring I would like to share with you my allotment which is just starting as it's spring. You can see onions, garlic, shallots and Coke bottles. Although we drink Diet Coke by the gallon I am NOT trying to grow Diet Coke. Just a great recycle use for these plastic bottles - to protect the plants from pigeons and spring frosts.
Also in the pictures are lettuce, Swiss Chard and sweet corn. I will be updating you on the progress of my allotment in relation to the season and music chosen. So, there is a little bit of a twist to this blog as it's not all music discussion and thoughts but sharing my favourite hobby - growing veggie's for some good wholesome eating all year round.
Hold the press! I know I said Debussy for Spring, but I also said this blog would feature other styles of music. Here is a jazz bossa nova that reminds me a lot of Spring. It's called Gentle Rain by Astrud Gilberto. You can listen and view a great version of this tune on the following link: Gentle Rain - Greg Maskalick & The Midlands Express
Next blog about Debussy and his music for the season of Spring.
Thanks for following and always enjoy your music.
Greg
